Please do not come to this Mirada in Edinger. Bad service! it was a slow day for them, only around 6 tables the max. we have party for 5 but we asked to have a round table, the rude waiter told us this table is for party of 10. OMG, do you think you will have a big group is coming?? Even the time that we left, the round table still empty. beside that, the foods is tooo salty and oily. I know going out the foods is always oliy, but can you make it not too salty. I know I will not come back or it will be a long long long time

The food here is very traditional Vietnamese and Chinese and Thai fare. I've eaten a lot of this food most of my life so I know how it's supposed to taste like and it tastes even better than homemade. It's a pretty hole in the wall restaurant- typical Vietnamese restaurant with basic ambience. It's not super fancy but you're here for the food not how great this place looks. The waiters are really nice and the service is great.

Pretty pricey but you pay the cost here because they have the best vietnamese home cooked meals besides home that is. This place is pretty damn good! CASH ONLY

Food is always great. But customer service was terrible today. My family came in to eat, and my sister has a one year old daughter so we would need a high chair, and she's also pregnant so we wanted a round table so she didn't have to squeeze between tables to sit down. The guy said no without an explanation. The whole time we ate, no one sat at that round table. Terrible service!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Small portions, over-priced mediocre food, dishonest staff. To top it off, our waiter brought a bowl of steamed rice to the table, and since we didn't specifically order it, we assumed it was part of the meal. When I asked him what the charge was (because they don't use English on the checks), he told me it was for the rice. When I told him that we didn't order it, he said "But you ate it didn't you?" UNBELIEVABLE! $10 for 2 pieces of catfish cooked in a "clay" pot?! $11 for sliced beef overloaded with garlic on top of iceberg lettuce?! PLEASE!

Over priced, mediocre food, horrible service. Waiters and owners talked smack about me like I couldn't hear or understand them. Cash only and waiter couldn't even give me correct change back. Came here because a friend who lives near by recommended them, but never ever setting foot back here again!! Only okay thing: Pad Thai is reasonably priced at $7 and didn't taste too bad with few medium shrimps and chicken pieces. However, there were more bean sprouts than noodles. Hole in the wall that needs to learn what customer service means.

If you're looking for a home cooked meal, this is the place for you; authentic Vietnamese food just the way your mom would make it. The canh chua, rau muong and clay pot catfish are among some of my favorites here. Cash only.

  • Joanna N.

Great authentic Viet food!!! Since I went with a bunch of Viet aunties, they did all the ordering. I can imagine if you didn't have Viet friends, this place would be hard to order, because some of their special dishes are written in Vietnamese slips of paper on the table. Definitely try to fried tofu. The claypot fish was good too. The soup with bamboo shoots was refreshing. Best of all, they have free dessert at the end!!!

The food at this place is ok. The female owner at this place is super rude!! She gets moody if you ask for to go container.. she said the container costs her money. If you eat lunch she would not give you desserts, only dinner menu. The portion are tiny, they over charge for their food. They also round up the bill. If $36, cashier will round up to $40... For a VN place, it's extremely expensive for the quantify of food you get.. and they have horrible attitude here... who would want to spend money and get this kind of service, treatment... I DO NOT RECOMMEND...

Mirada has been in this plaza for a very long time. The same owner and same waiters. It trips me out every time I come here because the waiters are Mexican and they speak fluent Vietnamese. Yeah, I know. Mirada is the only restaurant's number I have in my phone because it takes 10 minutes for them to cook my order. Anyway, I've been coming here since high school and ordering the same thing. The Pad Thai. I absolutely love their Pad Thai because it's so damn good. It comes with shrimp and chicken for protein. The veggies are bean sprouts, lettuce, green onions, cilantro, and carrots. It's not as greasy as other Thai restaurants and has tons of flavors. I would have to say that it's a fusion Vietnamese Pad Thai because of the non-greasy factor. It's kind of like going to buy a new car without the greasy sales man. Overall, I highly recommend Mirada for their Pad Thai and other dishes. I've tried many of their dishes and it's all good. However, I stick to my favorite every time.

Mirada--a Thai/Chinese restaurant serving family style meals with heavy influences from Vietnamese cuisine. The "Canh Chua" (Vietnamese Sour Soup) and "Ca Kho To" (Braised catfish) served here may be the BEST I've had, but the other dishes I've tried were underwhelming. With those facts in mind, combine that with poor service, slightly high prices, and out-dated 90's decor results in 3.5 stars. ----The Food---- Canh Chua or Vietnamese Sour Soup ($16.95)- Made with boiled fish, tomatoes, bean sprouts, okra, pineapple, all simmering in tamarind flavored broth. It's garnished with caramelized garlic, scallions, and different herbs that bring about notes of lemon, coriander, and basil. This soup is beyond comforting and a favorite of mine within Vietnamese cuisine--at Mirada, they serve it best. Eat with rice or vermicelli noodles. Ca Kho To or Braised catfish ($9.95)- Salty & Sweet. You'll receive three catfish steaks, braised in a steel pot. In Vietnam, Ca Kho To is often cooked in a clay pot to retain heat and help in the caramelizing process, but this isn't essential because it's served deliciously here. Just beware the bones. Scoop some of the sauce at the bottom of your pot into your rice! Ca Chim Chien ($12.95)- Deep fried fish with ginger fish sauce. Fried well, but the fish sauce needed more lemon juice and water to dilute the smell. Pad Thai ($7.45)- Every piece of chicken used in this dish had ligaments that made for an unpleasant meal. It was a bit bland and could've used more salt or fish sauce in the cooking process too. Thit Ba Roi Kho To or braised pork belly ($10.45)- Contains the same sauce like the braised fish above. The pork belly here is extremely fat making each bite akin to chewing gummy bears. Not a dish I love. ----- Conclusion: 3.5 Stars. While I recommend the Canh Chua and the Ca Kho To, everything receives a pass from me. I can't emphasize how poor the service is here too, the servers need an attitude change. Although the menu is vast with options, there are a ton of things that are ONLY served during the daytime. It would help if Mirada included these time restrictions on the menu. Also, portions could be better. Extra Notes: -CASH ONLY -Closed on Tuesdays -FREE dessert when dining in -Bad service, could be more friendly, attentive and accommodating. Kudos for employing Mexican workers who speak Vietnamese, but this is moot if service is without a smile. -Small restaurant that serves less than 50 people -Decor and lighting can use a change--feels grungy -Parking isn't a problem -Restroom could be cleaner

Good home-style food. You will get booted if you stay past their closing time at 9 PM though. :)

The food here used to be very good but the service was and still horrible. Our server's face looked like his mom just died. Seriously?! At least try to look like you enjoy your job. My mother in law couldn't finish her dessert and asked for a togo cup. Our server looked annoyed that we asked and later said they don't allow to-go desserts.. This is the absolute last time I'm coming here!!!

Good place to go for a vietnamese family style meal. My favorites here are the Ca Kho To (fish in a clay pot) and Canh Chua (Vietnamese sour soup). They have many other good dishes here! They get pretty busy some nights so there may be a wait. Their customer service has improved significantly over the years. It use to be very bad, but now I think they do pay more attention to the customers.

The first thing i want to say is that if you come in to this restaurant, maybe out of curiosity after reading this review, beware of bad service and be ready to accept the consequences...we came in with 9 in our party, at first we were offered an 8 seater next to the entrance. I saw two round tables that was empty which can be folded to a square table and put together for big party...as soon as i asked if that can be arranged the host that let us in just shook his head sending a message of disappointment to my suggestion...it was so obvious that he is upset by the look in his fiery eyes...i asked my party if they want to just leave but everybody wanted to try the food so we found another more accomodating host who managed to put 9 chairs around the round table...that is the intro we experienced... Now the food...the food is just okay...most of the items we ordered were okay but something my wife and/or my sister-in-laws can cook same or even better...i would admit that after a bad reception i am more critical to the food but i try to be as partial and unaffected by my bad emotion as i dig in...i would say this is average but if i ever come back here it would be a long time and most likely it would not be by my choice... The people here are defenssive as well, that might be because their Yelp rating is going down...if they keep their service pattern then most of these bad reviews will just prove to be true...

We didn't end up staying. I asked bò luc lac, what kind of salad come with and the waiter said regular salad. We asked for watercress, he answered to add $6 for watercress. The place is small and pricier than their competitions.

I like this place and their food but they only deserves 1 star for their service. The service here is horrible, especially the guy with a mustache (he's the manager I think) there used to be an old couple that managed this place and they were super nice. Anyway, my boyfriend and I came in at 8:30, 30 minutes before they close (like the board said). And the manager straight up kicked us out with an attitude and told us they're closed. Is that how you treat your customers?

  • Chon T.

Okay mirada, I've given you the benefit of a doubt for too long. Crappy service is pretty standard at a Vietnamese joint, so I was not too concerned about that. After eating here many a night, the food has been pretty consistent...until my last time. The usual came out and I was saddened. The canh chua tasted sweeter than usual, missing the tart and salty notes. Portion sizes for the other dishes (stir fried squid and bo luc lac) looked smaller than usual and drab. DO NOT talk to the owner about his food, he gets defensive and it's and excessive in futility. Time to find a new com phan joint. It's been fun mirada...but I outgrew you.

I recommend this restaurant to all my friends because the food is delicious and always have free dessert "che". We are impressed with Hispanic waiters who speak Vietnamese fluently and politely :) My mother-in-law who is the best cook in town likes the food here. Our family like "Rau muong bap soi" (water crest with fried beef and onion) and "ca chen chien" (seasonal fish). "Ca kho to" (braised catfish) is the best in town :) Our family always come here for special dinner :)

***************************** 1,006 ******************************* Got to trust my BFF when it comes to Asian food, she knows it best in SoCal. Mirada is nice, clean restaurant for Little Saigon. They serve That, Chinese, Vietnamese food. We ordered a few dishes and they were all good. Although it's a bit pricier than their competitors around this part of town. - The bamboo shoot sweet and sour soup was so tasty and perfect. - The shredded Vietnamese spinach (Rau Muong) with sauteed beef, onion, garlic topping was delicious, no other resto in town serves this dish, surprisingly. - The rare beef salad (similar to Bo Tai Chanh), Thai dressing, was so savory, aromatic and the dressing was so addicting. I couldn't stop slurping it. The good service by this Mexican guy, had been working here for 7 years, speaking fluent Vietnamese, was a nice touch. We were picking on his Vietnamese and oh buy was he good! We will definitely come back soon! Refreshing!

Food is good here but it feels like you're at a dated Asian house from the 90s. The food is fresh and tasty, just the right amount of seasonings. For a hole in the wall place it's really expensive, we ordered 2 really simple dishes and a drink and total was a little short of $40. That's pricey for a Viet place that's shabby looking. I do like how their food tastes and prepared like a real home cooked meal, they don't overly season with cheap ingredients or msg. I'm just not sure about the price and atmosphere. I would give the food 4 stars and price/ambiance a 2, so I think overall 3 stars is fitting.

Very Vietnamese family food. They cook right away when customer order. Its very fresh that I cant wait to eat and I forget to take pictures. I definitely come back next time!! There many kind of meat like pork, beek, chicken in traditional way both of Thaland and Vietnamese!

  • Lilie N.

This place used to be really good. They make some really good traditional dishes that's almost like home cooking. Recently, we found that they no longer use the same ingredients. They're using cheaper fish and squid which sabotage their dishes. They don't even look the same. One of their dishes was supposed to be raw, but came out hot and fully cooked. AND their prices are ridiculous. Most likely not coming back. It was nearly $80 for just 4 small dishes. Let's be realistic here. It's not a nice restaurant, it's more like a hole in the wall. Not sure how they get away with that, and it is absolutely CASH ONLY. Did they change ownership? :(

Horrible service. Strongly not recommended. Please do not go to this restaurant. Not only it is expensive compared to other Vietnamese restaurants, but the service is also very very bad. We had a party of six and nobody even cared about us to take any order, although we waved at them 3 times. Guess what? The waiter who supposed to take orders was busy chitchat and taking orders from a big group came in after us. We had to walk out to go to another restaurant. Trust me. I have experienced bad service at this restaurant before but it got worse.

    This place looks just as it did back when I was a kid! This is where you're going to find Vietnamese dishes, as well as many Thai dishes, that are commonly eaten at home family-style. You wouldn't go here for pho or other well-known dishes that people think of when they hear Vietnamese food. Sorry about the pictures.. Really embarrassing, but I came in when my family already started eating and I was so hungry I went for a little bit of everything AND THEN I remembered to take pictures so if you see half eaten stuff, I'm sorry, I got a little ahead of myself. Some dishes worth remembering: 1) Beef salad with shredded water spinach (rau muong). The way the beef is cooked with their sauce pairs well with the water spinach lightly tossed in their vinaigrette. This dish is one that my Mom typically makes at home... except the sautéed beef is SO good! 2) Calamari. I really like the calamari here, it has a good, crisp batter and comes with salt/pepper/lime to dip. The dip is refreshing to the taste of fried food. The squid is perfect. You won't encounter the problem if having to chew your way through the squid, that's when you know it's bad! 3) Sautéed clams with basil. You ever go to a Chinese restaurant, order clams and when it the plate comes out you feel like you've been cheated on? I didn't feel like I was getting cheated on, I felt like I was getting proposed to! Unlike many other Vietnamese/Chinese family style restaurants which often overcook clams, this place has it down (see picture). The clams are nice and plump, not to mention, I really liked the sauce. My brothers didn't care for it though--maybe they're used to less tang or sourness that you'd normally get at other family style restaurants. This dish is definitely worth your money. 4) Fried fish. I came late to dinner so I couldn't tell you what kind of fish it was, but it came with a sweet fish sauce and julienned green mango. Pieces of fried fish paired with the mango was perfect! I like that it has something to balance the fried flavor. Another thing to note, don't get their Thai iced tea. It's so watered down. You're better off getting it at a legitimate Thai restaurant. Their Thai tea looked more like dirty water than a thick orange-like color that I'm used to. You'd wonder what the ratio of tea to water is and if they even put any half/half in there at all. Opt out of getting it, you'll be disappointed--trust me. The lack of flavor in their Thai iced tea is no reason not to try this place though, but for a restaurant claiming to serve Vietnamese AND Thai, they're lacking on the Thai side. They have great customer service, they're not quick and snappy like other Vietnamese restaurants. The female who took our order was very soft spoken which is always refreshing. I wouldn't say the food comes out quick, but it comes out when you expect it to.. You know it's not sitting around, it's fresh and they didn't rush to get it out without it being prepared properly. All in all, this would be the first place I go to if I wanted family-style dining. Although, I rarely crave eating like that--I don't like to share. (;

Coming back here after a few years, food still mediocre and over price in Viet community, paid $5 for a bowl of rice and not allowed to take to go for barely touch rice. WTH $48 for 3 adults and could not to go the left over. What a waste.

Long overdue review for my favorite place for home style Vietnamese lunch or dinner in Little Saigon. It is very difficult to execute perfect ca kho to (claypot catfish), canh chua ca (sour catfish soup), ca lu duu (perfectly fried, tiny fish - not on the menu - only the big kind is - but it's an easy off-menu request), and ngheu xao ot (clams sauteed with chili and basil). I've been cooking Vietnamese food for years and my ca kho to is medium quality at best (still trying!). I've ordered these dishes here with my family many, many times and every time - spot ON. There are so many Viet restaurants to choose from in OC, and it always surprises me how few places we take my parents where these words are spoken: "this tastes correct." That phrase is always spoken when we eat here. I treasure this place. Added bonus: Mexican waiters who speak better Vietnamese than me. They also do a really interesting dish that I don't get to eat often because it's distinctly southern: canh khoai mon, a taro porridge. It's a savory dish but has a subtle sweetness, offset by a bit of black pepper and vietnamese basil. I wish they would simplify the menu, since it's oddly divided into a "thai" side and a "vietnamese" side. For newbs I would recommend sticking with the Viet side since the only thing I can remember ordering from the thai side is the clams w/ chili and basil and the big fried fish (small ones are tastier). A word of warning, and please, PLEASE don't let this scare you off from visiting this awesome restaurant. Tally up your bill before you go up to pay. I've been overcharged before by 1 dish and it's happened to a friend of my mom's. They won't be offended if you call them out, and almost all other times the bill has been correct.

This place is a freaking steal. We ordered two dishes (one fish and one pork) to go and they charged us $20. When we get home, we find out that they only gave us 2 little small pieces of fish and 1 of them is the tail. Also, the pork is not really pork, but tiny little slices of pork, when it should be big huge pieces. Two small dishes for $20!!! The service here is horrible too.

First of all although it says Chinese/Thai food.. it's more like VIET/Chinese food.. emphasis on the Viet food. overpriced, poor attitude from owner (he treats you like he's doing YOU a favor by serving you), and the place looks like you're traveling back in time.. won't be back. the end.

First off, this place is silly for calling itself a Thai/Chinese restaurant. It is actually a vietnamese restaurant that dabbles in Thai/Chinese. All the patrons here ordered Vietnamese dishes. Everything we ordered was delicious! -Canh Chua Ca (Sour fish soup) -Ca Kho To (Clay pot catfish) -Raw beef salad (not sure of the vietnamese name) -Fried fish w/ sauce and mango (again, not sure of the vietnamese name)

I think I've here a few times now with my mama and sister. We stopped in here again for dinner this past Turkey Day weekend and boy was it a feast! First off, the place is TEENY TINY. So if you have a huge group. expect a wait cuz there's only about 2-3 tables that can seat more than 10, and you're pretty much sitting like sardines in a can. Service is not the typical bad Asian service. The waiters are more abrupt but very attentive. And they have tons of people just coming by to clean off your tables as you start clearing your plates. Sometimes the waiters/waitresses actually look like customers dining there, so don't get confused! We ordered the dinner for 5 (Thai style spicy seafood combination soup, fish patties, fried fish, spicy chicken plate, snow pea leaves, beef salad, beef & bamboo plate) and added an extra plate(fried tofu). Everything was seriously mouth-wateringly delicious! The flavors they pack into each plate is insane! I wouldn't rate any of the plates lower than 4.5 stars. I also love the fact that they bring out complimentary che (Vietnamese dessert) at the end of your meal. I love the warm sticky ball filled with Taro bean paste. Soooo bomb! I definitely wanna come back here sometime soon before my pre contest season starts all over again. Oh! One tiny Debbie Downer, they only accept CASH!

Dang! I guessed I missed out again and must have gone on an off day. So many good reviews. First of all, I was confused by the sign because it says something about Chinese and Tai. ~Beef Curry-2 Stars I love curry. There is no bad curry on this planet. Here, the curry was super watery as if they added water to a decent sauce. The meat used was old and in some deep freeze. The poor quality and taste of the meat makes me give this dish 2 Stars. Also, they charge you for rice. This may be my own fault. I guess I was expecting more of a Vietnamese style curry. Com Bo Luc Lac-2 Stars I have not had good beef in years. The seasoning was AOK, but again the meat was of very low quality. It was way over cooked. I would give this 3 stars except for the crummy meat they gave us. I guess this doesn't come with rice because they charged for rice (could have been for the curry). Regardless, I have never eaten curry or Bo Luc Lac without rice. And, when you have rice in the name, I better get free rice. Soda Chanh-2 Stars Not really good. For two dishes my bill was 32 bucks. What a rip.

Even though the restaurant sign says Chinese and Thai cuisine, this is really a Viet/Chinese place that happens to serve some Thai dishes also. The food was good but a tad pricier than other places. You wouldn't come here to save a few bucks, but it's not gonna break your wallet either. We ordered shrimp pad thai, shaken beef (bo luc lac) and shrimp fried rice. The order came out quickly and was very good, not too sweet and not too salty. In addition to the good food, other positive points: - very easy to get in and out. - quick service - free che desert at the end of meal If it were not for mom's cooking, I would definitely be coming here a lot more when I'm in OC.

One of my "hidden spots" that I only take true foodies. It's pretty expensive for what it is, and there's a weird smell to the tables, but if you want really good southern Vietnamese cooking, this place is IT. Everything I ordered has so much flavour, it has the rich "umami" flavour of really complex dishes. Drools... Cash Only.

Growing up in Little Saigon, and being fed by my Vietnamese "grandma," I was fed Vietnamese food about 2/3 of the time. Although there were times where I would get sick of eating the same type of food, I always find myself back to it. People ask me what my favorite dishes are, and I would say the Vietnamese braised fish in a clay pot and the Vietnamese sour fish soup (or ca canh chua). This restaurant does has the best fish in clay pot and soup! I'm the type of person that likes to try new items every time I come to the same place... But I ALWAYS get the "ca kho to" and the "ca canh chua" with banana leaves. My two favorite dishes of all time... The fried tofu is also good. It's very crispy on the outside, but soft and hot on the inside. If you want good Vietnamese food that is different, come try it here! It's different than your typical pho that you always get... The place is a bit pricey -- more than your average Vietnamese restaurant but for the quality of the food, it's worth the money. Plus, it's a fusion of Vietnamese and Thai food!

1st time here via recommendation of my parents. Let's start off with price= overpriced Portion= small, tiny. Food= nothing to write home about. Ca kho got 2 prices. Services = poor/ fair. Bill= confusing, maybe hidden tax reporting. Meaning bill will have tax included in grand total with out indication. Tips denoted = 15% with "t" not all all justify by service. When question that total + "t" not equal to amount ordered, server was upset, rewrote bill with total+ tax+ tips= does equal. Server than justify that it took too much time to write all out. How long does it take to write total + tax + tips seperately out??? Now unless owner were trying to not pay some tax??? BEWARED, and CASH ONLY.

Came here 2 days ago with some new friends.. Yep, the food is still consistently good. The favorite dish of the night was Goi Rau Muong Thit Bo - split water spinach stem salad with beef. This dish used to be available only during lunch (I remember how my BF would try to sweet talk the grandmotherly owner to serve us the dish) but I guess they had a change of heart. If you are not familiar with the dish, Goi Rau Muong Thit Bo consists of water spinach stem split (soaked in cold water to make the stems curl), topped with sautéed thin slices of beef & onions and dressed in sweet-tangy vinaigrette. The crisp water spinach stems go ridiculously well with the sautéed beef. The sweet-tangy vinaigrette is obviously home made and also very good. My personal favorite dish was the Thit Kho Tieu - five-spice caramel pork. The more popular version is the Thit Kho To, which is somewhat similar to Japanese dish buta no kakuni. I prefer the Thit Kho Tieu version because the dish uses thin lean slices of pork instead of big chunky pieces of fatty pork. This dish is kinda salty but in a yummy way. People either love the bold flavor or they don't. After our meal they gave us cold che for dessert. It was very sweet with full on coconut flavor. Fortunately, I'm not a fan of anything with coconut so my BF got to enjoy my share. I really wish I lived closer to Mirada so I could come here more often.

This place sucks. That's all I really have to say about this place. The service sucked, food took way too long for it to come out. VERY OVERPRICED. The rice was okay, I could've made better rice at home, quality of food was okay, could've been much better. I won't be coming back, that's for sure.

MMmmmm... Came here last night with my mom and brother... This place is known for its authentic Vietnamese food Okay.. its like a hole in the wall type of place.. Old tables.. everyone crammed together like sardines.. No decor.. but damn.. the food is bomb!! The workers are very pleasant. They've had the same hispanic workers for many years now.. And I swear those guys speak better Vietnamese than me! But on to the food... 1. Catfish in a clay pot (Ca Kho To) soft, tender and juicy.. still bubbling when they serve it to your table 2. Thai sour soup.. Ehhh.. It was okay.. Could've done without it.. Just mainly sour broth and a couple shrimps and mushrooms 3. Fried Tofu!!!! OMGosh droools (check out my picture) Very crispy on the outside.. blazing hot.. but the middle!! How do they keep it sooooo soft and intact? You dip it in this light soy sauce mixture or can eat it with rice... I'm definitely going back for this dish Overall.. Liked the place =) Whenever mother doesn't cook.. I'd come here for a good home meal

We were in the vicinity and my mom suggested we eat here. However, I was very skeptical about this restaurant on first impression. Not a single soul inside except for two mexican waiters standing near the cash register. Hmm. I kept whispering...."are you sure you want to eat here?!" Is this even an asian restaurant?! It can't be any good...it's so empty! Once inside, I noticed a strong chemical odor- smelled like cleaning fluid:/ One of the Mexican waiters came to our table and started speaking to us...in perfect Vietnamese. Then he turns around and starts speaking to the other waiter in Spanish (apparently he learned Vietnamese from working at the restaurant, so impressively fluent!) Anyways, we ordered the vermicelli with beef, which was very good. Beef tasty with lemongrass and garlic, noodles not cold but slightly warm, comes with lots of fresh veggies and pickled daikon/carrots. Rau ma was awful..tasted really salty and metallic. At first I thought it was because it wasn't sweetened, but even adding sugar didn't help. Interior is ugly....flower fabric covered chairs-- reminded me of a granny's dining room. Overall, food was better than I thought, but probably won't be back.

A good vn restaurant to come n try. I like the purple yam soup( canh khoai mo) and the cat fish dish ( ca kho to) or the sweet n sour soup ( canh chua). Cook in Vietnamese way..um yum yum! They give u free dessert! Cash only over here

The Vietnamese food here is just like home cooking! I love going here with my family and feeling like i'm just eating at home. The prices do seem a bit high and the restaurant is fairly small but worth at least trying. Try the catfish and beef stir fry.

OVER-RATED, OVER-PRICED, and I am so OVER this place. We had a large party of 25 in the early afternoon so we pretty much took over the half the restaurant. The service was horrendous, and they charge for EVERYTHING...They charged us $0.50 for water....WTF!!! The food was mediocre at best...specializing in traditional VN comfort food. I have had much better. The complimentary Che is pretty good, but for adult ONLY...the poor kids didn't get any...again WTF!!!

If your in the mood for some good old moms Vietnamese cooking, then you need to check out this hole in the wall joint. The clams with mint leaves were the bomb. We also ordered the salted fish fried rice and brought me back to my trip to Thailand at the floating market where this old thai lady made fried rice on an old wok on her little boat. I think the flavor comes from the old wok they she probably never washes. The clay pot with catfish was also amazing as it is bursting with flavor. The meal was topped off with a free yellow bean dessert that is to die for. The only problem is that you can't order it or purchase the dessert to go. Very odd, but it does leave you wanting to come back for more.

So I came here expecting Thai food, but as I sat down it was pretty obvious that it was a Vietnamese joint. "Oh well" I go. So then I ate it and I don't know if it's because my body was ready for Thai or whatevs but I just thought the food was meh. Pretty meh Vietnamese food if you ask me and that is why this place gets a "Meh. I've experienced better."

I don't know whats all the hype about this place! Food wasn't all that great and to top it off, they over charged us! Ordered the dinner special for 4. Only thing good here is the complimentary dessert.

I used to come here all the time growing up because it's on the same strip mall as my dad's office. I have very fond memories of eating here with my family after dance class :) In any case.. on a whim, my cousin & I decided to come back here on a Sunday night. We ordered our childhood favorites: spicy thai beef salad; breaded calimari; & fried tofu. Still just as delicious as I remembered! I realized halfway through our meal that it was the breaded shrimp that we ordered as children, but the calimari held up nicely! The beef salad is their hottest item costing about $13. But I think (& others agree) that it is worth every penny. It's fresh & slightly warm, tangy, sweet, citrus-y, all around - DELICIOUS. I actually have had so many cravings for it since then!! The fried tofu (tau hu chien) comes with a lemon-grass, garlic & soy sauce reduction that is as satisfying as a burger without the guilt (okay, so it's deep fried & leaves a tiiiny bit a guilt). Come here one a weekday night. You might not get the best service, but you'll love the fare. Just a note: they're closed Tuesdays

love the authentic home sytle vietnamese food here but it can get kinda pricey for vietnamese food. hey, i'm used to $5.95 for a whole meal! Cash only. These are my favorites here ....I've tried some other dishes and it's hit or miss. - Thai Beef Salad - fried tofu - raw ong choi and beef (it's under the VN specials and might be called water spinach and beef). "rau muong che thit bo" in VN ...try this...everyone that i've had try it really likes it. - clay pot catfish P.S. I've tried the papaya salad here and it wasn't good.

I've been going here since I was like 8. Almost everything on the menu is decent. The place is one of the cleanest place and has been for as long as I can remember. The table, utensils, and condiments on the table are never sticky or dirty. If you want family style dinner, this is the place to go. The food is Thai/Viet, but mostly Viet. For main course, I like the tofu w/ lemon grass. I usually don't like lemon grass, but it cooked so well that I hardly notice that I'm eating lemon grass. The fish is very fresh. I like the fried fish that is salted. They have 2 types, one that is small, and one is the flat fish. Both are excellent. Also, if you like the fish in clay pot, this is a good place to have it. The on choi stir fried w/ garlic is good. There are also 2 salads that are very well done. The specialty is of course the beef w/ the raw on choi that is shredded. The other is green beans w/ shrimp and pork. Both salads are tossed in a light vinegar sauce. The vinegar is not overbearing but adds a nice kick to the salad. The green bean salad has crushed peanuts, so be careful if you have allergies. One of the best dish is the shrimp and pork stir fried. Shrimp is small and the shell is soft so you can eat the shell. The pork may be a little on the fatty side. But, it is small enough that you can eat. My other favorite dish is the pho ap chao (fried cho fun). The cho fun is dry and a little crunchy but still soft so you feel like you are eating a noodle. It is stir fried w/ eggs and chinese broccoli. Don't get the calamari. The batter kind of dries out the calamari and you get very little calamari. You also get Vietnamese dessert after ever meal. The dessert (che) is made fresh everyday and they are all good. My favorites are the black beans, white beans, corn, and the taro w/ the tapioca. All are served w/ coconut milk. The negative thing is the owners are a little cranky. You basically have to sit where they tell you, even if there are tons of open tables, you can't choose. Also, when you order, be precised, b/c I got yelled out. If you can get over this part, the food is great and I've never had a bad meal!

Mirada is the place where I go to whenever I need a good meal with decent price. The menu consists all Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai food. Even thought the restaurant brands itself as a Thai restaurant, its Vietnamese food are the best out of three. Everything is made fresh, seasoned well, and their sauce is fantastic ! From salad, fish, beef, to soup, I'm sure that there will be something for everyone. Oh, and their free dessert is really good as well. The restaurant is small so if you come with a big party, you probably have to wait for a while. I say the ideal size is a party of 2 to 4 people. The price is pretty reasonable, especially given how good the food is. I came here with another friend and we end up paying around $30. Overall Mirada is a great place to have lunch or dinner. Once you get to know Mirada, you'll want to come back for more.

This is the kind of restaurant that people would often say "I pass this place so many times without ever checking it out " - " Never realize the food is that good" - " The plaza looks ghetto, so is the outside of the restaurant" Who knows? Don't judge the book by its cover I guess? coz One day you come and get food here, then you just fall in love with it. It's a Vietnamese/Thai/Chinese cuisine. I love the Mexican waiters. They know all the dishes in Vietnamese, and I believe some of them even speak some Viet pretty well. Hahaha impressive and funny!!! Very yummy food. Decent price. Great staff.

Definitely on the top of my list for places to go when I'm too lazy to cook my favorite Southern Vietnamese dishes! (Yes yes Grandma taught me well... she said it'd attract the ladies... and also I wouldn't have to eat burgers everyday in college. So true.) Southern Vietnamese food is simple yet the flavors are released in layers with each bite of each morsel from each dish. I grew up with this food in the home and it's always going to be one of my favorite types of food no matter what! So again this is a restaurant that I frequently visit yet this is the first time that I'm Yelp-ing about it! A large group of friends and I attended an event a few streets down from Mirada on Sunday afternoon. After the event, we were super hungry and ready to chow down on some good food, but didn't want to drive too far so I suggested Mirada. We went there and waited maybe about 5 minutes for them to prepare a few tables for 15 of us. I was bestowed the honor of ordering for my particular table and was complimented by some of the older guests for my awesome selection of dishes. I ordered a purple yam soup with ground shrimp, 2 orders of clay pot braised catfish, 1 order of braised pork ribs, 1 order of pea sprouts sauteed with garlic, 1 order of clams sauteed with basil and 1 order of fried tofu squares. Each dish came out piping hot and smelled WONDERFUL. The flavor is almost perfect and I'm so very reminded of my grandmother's cooking. I can actually cook these dishes MUCH better and a MUCH better price but when you don't have the time, MIRADA will do!

So I recently had a change of heart about this place. I came in here again a few weeks ago and I've decided to change my review from 2 stars to 4. Because when I reflect on my food experiences here, they actually weren't that bad. Yeah, the prices are high. However, the food is so so damn good. The fried tofu and soy sauce dish was one of my favorites. The way that the tofu was fried and the mixture of green onions with the soy sauce complemented each other really well. The sweet and sour pork was eh. There was that chewiness that I didn't like about dish. And the sweet and sour were not emphasized. It didn't really stimulate my taste buds. However, the ca kho to aka fish cooked in a clay pot was a different story. It was stellar. I felt like there was some sort of sweetness when I first bit it, but then it changed to salty toward the end. Whatever the case, it was delicious. The service here is pretty good. Two Hispanic dudes speaking Vietnamese!! Dude it was weird and awesome at the same time. Well anyways, overall, this place has made me a fan over time.

This is the damn BEST traditional south vietnamese food restaurant out there. I believe it is Thai fusion but the food here so freaking amazing. If you havent tried the rau muong with beef, do yourself a favor and order it. It's one of the best (if not the best) things they have on the menu. Everything else is superb also. We usually get a soup (any is good), some fried fish, and that fatty meat with shrimp which you have to eat with the pickled veggie ((i'm not 100% sure what all these dishes are called b/c my dad usually orders for us). If you really want to try some good, authentic, family style vietnamese food, none of that mainstream pho/broken rice stuff, you must go here! MUST. This is the next best thing to grandma's cooking. I forgot to mention the FREE dessert is AMAZING. Usually when Viet restaurants give free desserts they're tasteless and forgettable, but this place, omg they keep my mouth watering from beginning to the very end. Cons: I believe they use a lot of sugar in their cooking. SO bad, but soooo good. it's still definitely worth it once in a while Food is over priced. I know damn well the place and what it cost to make the food barely cost a fraction of what they charge but they know their food is good and they know people will keep coming back for more no matter what. In this case... FOOD pwns all cons

Still the best place to get home-style South (mon an nam) Vietnamese cuisine! Seriously, if you love Vietnamse food, hurry on over and get some Mirada... because the cook is getting old and it's hard to tell when she's gonna call it quits and retire! Until then, this is the only place that satisfies my cravings for Canh Chua Ca (Sour Catfish Soup) and Ca Kho To (Claypot Fish). Since this is an update, I won't re-state things that I've said in my previous post. Instead, the real update is: They sell their Che (desserts) to-go!!!!!!! I've been eating at this restaurant for almost a decade and I never knew that! It's $2 per container of che, which is a quarter more expensive than Thach Che Hien Khanh, but seriously, the old lady who makes the Che at Mirada blows Thach Che Hien Khanh out of the fricking water! Also, one last thing, they don't do business on Tuesdays I believe and their hours are a bit weird. GO EAT MIRADA NOW!!!

Excellent food, very consistent throughout the years we've gone to this place. The soups (canh) are very good - just don't get the Canh Chua Ca' (sour catfish soup) since it's just OK and a tad overpriced. We have our favorites but it's safe to order most everything else. The dishes just feel wholesome and very good, as if you're at a friend's home and eating their mom's cooking. It's true that the prices are not as low as some other Vietnamese restaurants and that the owners can be rude at times but I hope they don't sell out - last night there was an aggressive old hostess which worried me about change of ownership but hopefully she was just there temporarily to help.

If anyone was here before then you know how small the restaurant is. We had group of 13 , they don't take RSVP so pretty much we all have to wait and they don't let us seated until all parties were there. They gave us 2 tables ,After we seated, we counted again and we said "oh, maybe 12 only" the owner quickly Loud replied." if only 12 then I only give you 1 table because my restaurant is so small" ( as you know, there round table only able to seat 6 ) everyone in the restaurant stopped eating and looked at us , I almost about to walk my whole group out of that place... Make story short, we had 13 so they let us seated... Come to order part, because we had 2 tables connected so everything we ordered 2 dishes, the waitress spoken broken English refused to speak Vietnamese , she said that loud , "what? Everything is you order split 2 dishes?" I was really mad and I believed that she ruined everyone's dinner. The restaurant is very small, the restroom is right near the kitchen,omg... You can't believe what I saw , they used their hands on your food without gloves, they mix your salads with their bared hands . the waiter mixed it not the the chef .and a lot more things that you don't want to know. It was not my first time here, but i will never come back again. Food is very expensive,no service . I think this place need big time updated and the same thing with all the people work in there including the owners attitude. -so down graded , all my friends were right about this place. There's a lot of better place to eat everyone.

Came here with the family for dinner last night and I can say this place doesn't disappoint. Of course their portions could be bigger and their prices could drop a little but hey, I guess the grams and gramps running the shop need to make their money. The food was good, we got the family meal for 6 and had yummy Thai seafood soup, lemongrass chicken, clams, deep fried fish, claypot fish, and vegetables. Everything was tasty to me and my family thoroughly enjoyed it. Might come back to try some other dishes in the near future. Oh, and the Hispanic busboys speak vietnese... With a northern accent! Pretty entertaining. Hehe.

My family has been coming to this place for years, but sadly my love for this place has come to an end. For me, it takes one utterly negative experience and it's over. Why subject myself to a terrible experience or the possibility of it when there are dozens of other places around. On our most recent visit, our server was downright bitchy. She kept arguing with us over what was and was not on the menu. We came here so often and ordered the same dishes each time, that we didn't bother to read from the menu. When she argued with us the first time, I let it go, then the second time, I also let it go. My mom and I were discussing what to get instead, and the server rolled her eyes and snapped, "Are you ready to order or not? If not, I'll just come back." By then, I'd had it. I like to think everyone has bad days, but this was beyond explanation. You just don't treat customers like that. I know you're not supposed to expect good service at a restaurant like this, but I'll take my $$ elsewhere thank you very much. I suspect this woman may have even been the owners' daughter. Those Latino waiters that work there were so nice. The ironic part was that later in the evening as we were leaving I saw that another table ordered the very same dishes we were told weren't on the menu. I would have given one start but the food was actually decent.

A reserved 3. Maybe a 2.8. I guess I must have missed the good stuff. We had the shrimp sour soup, tofu with lemongrass, catfish, "shrimp with meat", fish cakes, and chicken with mint. The soup was probably the best part of the meal. It had character. Everything else was kinda meh. I took a piece of everything, and none of it really impressed me to eat more. Except for the soup. The mung bean dessert was good, though. Price for what you get was "eh." Our entire meal was $60 pre-tip. For that kind of money, I felt like we could have gotten something much better, or significantly more of the same quality. I guess I should go for the Vietnamese dishes next time. Spacing felt unnecessarily limited, too, like they just packed in as many tables as they could.

Some real vietnamese home cooked comfort food. I love the Canh Chua, it's is a mandatory here. I always come here with my family and eat till my sides hurt. The prices risen a bit so I come here once in a while since the portions are so-so and as a young man, I consume ALOT. Very clean for a Vietnamese restaurant. You wont be disappointed

If you're looking for home cooked vietnamese food you've come to the right place. Don't expect good service though. The claypot catfish, thai beef salad and fried tofu are my faves. Free dessert at the end of the meal. Pricier than what vietnamese restaraunts usually charge but its worth it. Cash only

This was the most decent vietnamese restaurant so far during our visit. We had the fried tofu, young banana blossom sour soup, and string bean with shrimp, pork salad. The sauce that came with the tofu didn't have any taste to it and was rather oily. I liked the sour soup here. Most places have too much of a sour taste for me. The string bean salad was decent too although the pairing of the dishes didn't go together. It was our fault, the items were listed in vietnamese and i could understand some but not all. And asking for guidance didnt help much. they serve you a little vietnamese sweet dessert at the end of the meal. it's the one with coconut milk, mung bean, strips of green seaweed, tapioca pearls and rectangular shaped too. the che was not overly sweet and the small portion was perfect. i would definitely give this restaurant another chance. I liked it but didn't love it.

Food and price are on the average but the service is sub par. Next time, pay attention to your rice pot. Last time when I was there, just as we slowed down on eating, the waiter took the more-than-half-full rice pot back to the kitchen, I was afraid the rice was being recycled to the next customer so I asked to take home the leftover rice. They then pointed to a piece of paper saying take home rice is not allowed! I already paid for it, I don't see why not! and what do they keep the rice for? I wonder if the rice going to be recycled as steam rice or fried rice? Need less to say, I won't come back and will not eat their rice ever again!

So disappointed with this place. The food wasn't that bad but it was pricey. Stacy H got to pick the place this time. Bo Luc Lac: it was kinda good but not too flavorful. Meat quality is not bad but taste was not good. Beef Curry: The curry sauce was kinda good but the chicken wasn't good. Sauce was good but meat quality was bad. Soda Chanh: not as good as typical soda chanh. Free dessert for everyone after the meal. Thank you very much. They charged for steamed rice and it was kinda pricey. This place was kinda pricey because the quality wasn't that good. 2 stars!! Mirada is not yummylicious!!

The food came out quickly and was dericious and hot. This place doesn't have much for parking, but it's still worth the wait to get a spot to chill, sit, and eat. There are also some tables with power so if you need to charge your ailing droid you can do that! Very dericious Vietnamese fair. Definitely get the purple yam soup. Definitely get the baked fish dishes, and definitely devour your white rice!

nothin' special going on here. tasted just like an average home cooked meal and they don't serve beer. will skip this spot next time i'm in this neck of the woods, the motherland of great vietnamese food is only minutes away.

I tried their $39.99 com phan for the first time. Short and simple, their food was ok. The soup to me was the best. Their portions are small but the food did come out fresh and hot. They charge $1 each person for rice and .50 cent for water. If you have left over to take home, they won't allow you to take rice even though they charge you for it. A nice homely atmosphere with decent service. Nothing really stood out. I probably won't come back.

... I honestly feel I can make better food at home. It feels like they are trying their best to nickle and dime you here... Portions are very minuscule. They charge $1 for rice and $0.50 for water... Not to mention they don't ask you if you want it or not... They just bring it out and charge you. I went with two other people got the "dinner for 2" + "fried squid". Ended up paying $35 for what costed about less than $10 to make... There was half small fish, some soup, some rau, and muc. The muc was $9 and I'm pretty sure it was barely half of a squid tube... Won't be coming back here...ever...

Why are you so expensive otherwise my brother said he would buy you everyday for us? The best traditional Vietnamese dishes hands down. Always ask them what the recommend because they never take you down the wrong path. A new discover is Canh Chua with banana leaves...($15) CASH ONLY

The food here is really amazing. You can't get fried rice with salted fish as good anywhere else. The Ca Kho (fish in a candied sauce) is very tasty, as is the fried tofu and Pho Ap Chao (rice noodles fried crispy). The place is small but always seems to harbor a crowd. I have only been on the weekends and they offer a complimentary dessert after the meal that is always delicious. It's a nice place to go get Vietnamese if your mom isn't cooking.

This place is great. It's kinda a combo Vietnamese, Chinese and Thai place. Small (there are about 10 tables) but they are accommodating and the service is good. Thai beef salad and fried tofu are my favorites, but they also do good soups and other items. Really haven't had a bad meal here. Only wish they had a liquor license and could serve beer.
